My First Blog! Wow!

Wow, this is my first blog ever!! Welcome to Anney's Land!! Let me introduce myself..actually introduce Anney. Anney is our dog of 10 years. This is her world and we are privileged to live in it...LOL!! Anney is an all American dog. Her mom was an English Springer Spaniel and her dad was a Beagle. She is black and white, weighs about 25 pounds, prematurely grey.

We got her in August of 1999. Her birthday is April 19, 1999.

We had picked up a stray chow mix that was wondering the neighborhood. My husband found the chow mix and thought she was cute, all puffy and fluffy. I'm not a fan of chows, so I thought it was best to find her another home.

Well, that opened the door to allow us to get a dog. My husband is not a dog fan but thought the boys needed a dog. We saw an ad in the paper that had free dogs..what is better than a free dog!!!

Off Matt and I went to look these dogs over!!! I had read somewhere the attributes you need to look for in a puppy. Anney was the runt (which we always would get the runt) but if she didn't have the qualities we wanted we would pick another puppy. We wanted to look for a puppy that would come to you when you called or clapped but then would run off to play, that would "submit to you" when you rolled them over to rub their bellies, to be slightly independent of the other puppies..she had them all!! She had 3 brothers left and the owner was keeping them to train for deer hunting dogs. She had her first set of shots given by the home owner, wormed and had been well cared for, so I knew she came from a good home.

She was easily house broken within a week. She has been the absolute joy of our household. She loves to chase the squirrels in the yard but doesn't kill them...which I guess is my fault. I wouldn't let her kill them when she caught them. The only thing that drives me nuts about her is the shedding...oh my goodness......lots of sweeping and vacuuming goes on here!

It's amazing how the Lord uses animals to bless a family!!!

  1. A woman after my own heart! We have similar feelings about our dog, Lucy, an English Springer Spaniel. She is the joy of our lives (well probably the grandkids first, then her), but she does rule our house. It IS amazing how the Lord uses animals to bless a family!
